Weng Pixin

Survivor, Artist, Writer, Author of three comic books including Wake Up Pixoto! that chronicles her immersion into a cultish art-based group

Weng Pixin was born in 1983 and grew up in sunny Singapore. As a child, Pixin’s father used to tell her stories—stories that reflected his curious nature. When Pixin began making art, she wanted to express that same curious nature in her semi-autobiographical comics.

Pixin’s most recent work, Wake Up, Pixoto! published by Drawn & Quarterly, 2025 chronicles her time as an art student to her gradual immersion in a cultish group led by her former art instructor. For a review of her book, please click here!

This will be Pixin’s first time presenting to fellow survivors of cultic coercion. She is keen to share her processes of utilising the collaborative language between pictures and words, in her interest to portray intangible dynamics that are present in coercion and undue influence.
