Lisa Kohn
Author, Speaker, and Champion of Radical Self-Love

Lisa Kohn is an award-winning author, keynote speaker, executive coach, and cult survivor whose work centers on the radical, life-altering power of self-love. Having grown up between a religious cult and New York City’s sex-drugs-and-rock-and-roll world, Lisa understands the exhaustion of self-judgment, the ache of disconnection, and the lasting impact of internalized control that many survivors carry.
Drawing from her personal healing journey, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Cornell University, an Executive MBA from Columbia University, and decades of work in leadership development, Lisa brings rare depth and credibility to conversations about recovery, identity, and transformation. Her approach integrates psychology, neuroplasticity, Positive Psychology, and lived experience to help people soften shame and rewrite the stories that keep them stuck.
Lisa is the author of the memoir To the Moon and Back: A Childhood Under the Influence, in which she reflects on how writing her story opened unexpected doors — to community, to belonging, and to a deeper relationship with herself. Through writing, speaking, and coaching, she invites others to see storytelling not as self-exposure, but as self-devotion: a courageous practice of reclaiming wholeness after harm.
Lisa has been featured on Megyn Kelly TODAY, in The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Daily Mail, and has appeared on numerous podcasts, including A Little Bit Culty and IndoctriNation. She writes regularly at her website and is currently working on her next book.
