My Work

/ My World

This is a space where I share the full spectrum of my work supporting people who have been impacted by coercive control.

Here, you’ll find a summary of my projects, initiatives, and resources: my books, podcasts, the nonprofit Living Cult Free, and upcoming events — all created to inform, empower, and inspire a vibrant cult-free life.

Upcoming Writing Symposium

March 21, 2026

Reclaiming Autonomy through the Written Word has grown from my own healing journey after leaving a cult in 2014. Since the spring of 2020, through my Writing to Reckon programs, I have guided survivors to reckon with cultic coercion and explore their experiences through writing. I created this symposium to bring together respected voices offering their best guidance for accessing and expressing the hidden and often unspeakable aspects of coercion—a process that can be a powerful tool for unburdening the self. Through these programs, I have witnessed how discovering an honest narrative allows an inner sense of freedom to emerge. The goal of this symposium is to encourage as many survivors as possible to engage with this simple, life-enhancing practice.

Reclaiming Autonomy through the Written Word is a biannual writing symposium that brings together leading voices, all advocating for survivors of cultic abuse to advance their healing process through the written word.

Each Spring and Fall, it is co-hosted by Living Cult Free, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to highlight survivor voices, strengthen self-agency, and provide education that builds resilience against coercion and abuse.  their own words, and their own creativity   My respect for the this continues to inspire.

LIVING CULT FREE

I’ve been collaborating with a stellar group of survivor leaders since 2023 to develop an enduring nonprofit organization based on principles of respectful relationships, compassion and clear boundaries. Together, we are committed to fostering an organizational culture where autonomy and nurturing relationships are celebrated - while we focus on our advocacy for survivors of coercive control. It’s an honor to serve as the volunteer executive director for Living Cult Free.

The mission of Living Cult Free is to highlight survivor voices, strengthen self-agency, and provide education that builds resilience against coercion and abuse.
